Menu Tasting at Alex's Catering

Since this blog is the "Diary of a Wedding Planner", I asked Kristen to start posting as well.  Kristen is a Certified Wedding Consultant and works for me at Allure taking on her own weddings.   One of the many lovely perks we enjoy as Wedding Planners is assisting clients in choosing a menu for the reception and attend tastings!  Please enjoy this the first posting by Kristen.

My first official blog for Allure Wedding Consulting! I’m excited to be a part of this blog and to share with you my experiences, thoughts, and give you an inside look at being a Wedding Planner. I love weddings and have been in love with weddings since High School. I have finally realized my dream of becoming a Wedding Consultant and I have been working with Michelle since 2005 and received my Certification last year.

I am working with a great couple, Susie & Russell, on their September wedding in the Presidio. The biggest chunk of any wedding budget is spent on the food & beverage. After we narrowed down the field, we selected a couple caterers to do tastings with (one of my most favorite parts of the wedding planning process, as I am a self-proclaimed foodie!). We met with Rolando at Alex's Catering in Vallejo. Alex’s slogan is “the art of good food” and they could not be more right!

Our menu was:

Hors D’oeuvres
Australian Poached Lobster & Mango Cones
California Grown Asparagus Straws
Crispy Polenta Cups
Ahi Tuna Poki Crisp

Soup & Salad Duet
Roasted Butternut Squash Soup
Sonoma Raised Field Greens

 Main Entrée
Certified Angus Beef Grilled Petite Filet

Yeah! I definitely agree with you there, "The biggest chunk of any wedding budget is spent on the food & beverage." that's why my sister is looking for a good caterer at an affordable price for her wedding day. Anyway, I enjoyed reading your post. Thanks for sharing!
